Deep water Creek is the project of Christchurch based Singer/songwriter Matthew Smith. With a strong evocative sense for words and melody Smith has a burning desire to celebrate, commiserate, and communicate. The endeavour of human spirit is not lost on Smith and the yearning for communion is apparent.

Since recording his debut E.P(Before you lay down) and debut self titled album with Ben Edwards(sitting room) Smith has been crossing the country developing a fearsome reputation as an electric performer full of dark energy and insight not often seen. One of New Zealand's rare and underrated talents Smiths band Deep Water Creek are a powerful and fitting foil for Smiths restless inner vision.
